Optimus Technology: Driver Switching

One of the world’s leading graphics cards manaufacturer’s and gamers favorites, NVIDIA has announced that they are to release a new type of driver mode for users that have NVIDIA based graphics cards installed on their latops.

This new system called Optimus, will effectively change the settings of the card depending on which type of program is opened.

For example, games that require high processing power will need the highest setting whilst non resource hungry apps such as webmail and internet surfing will require a lower setting.

NVIDIA were not the first manufacturer to roll out laptops with the new Optimus system. ASUS has released Optimus on 5 models in their new range of PCs and laptops. According to tests this new way of conserving battery life and power has been a great success during trial test periods.
